For the second year in a row, the Winfield United Methodist Women took a stand against Human Trafficking. Our church will be handing out anti-human trafficking bulletin insert on Super Bowl Sunday,February 2, 2014.   The bulletin insert came from the United Methodist Women Action Alert website. This year's theme for the anti-trafficking compaing was "Freeze Human Trafficking". Local units were encouraged to have a "freeze" type theme so our group held up signs and snowmen. It was
only 16 degreees and four inches of new snow on the morning we took photograph so we opted for an inside photograph instead. The most important thing was for us to hold our signs and raise awareness that human trafficking exists and must be stopped!

Had a great time at the Women's annual Christmas party. Barb K graciously hosted the event at her beautiful home! Thank you Barb for hosting! It was such a relaxing enjoyable evening. The ladies brought in toys to donate to the Branches, domestic violence shelter. Some children show up at the shelter with literally just the clothes on their backs. Hopefully some of these toys will help ease these precious children into the transition they are experiencing. Hug your loved ones tonight and say a prayer for those going thru difficult times.

Mission Challenge - The Women's group received a challenge at their annual Conference.  The challenge?  Take $5.00 seed money and increase it by ten-fold or twenty-fold or even more!   We graciously accepted the challenge and are selling handmade croqueted scarves for $10.00 each.   All proceeds will benefit CDOM (Community Development Outreach Ministries). CDOM encompasses two community centers as well as Heart & Hand and home repairs for the elderly to name a few of their services for the community.   In 2012, annual conference challenged recipients received  $700 seed money and increased it to $24,000 for WV Conference projects.   Pretty cool!   The WUMW's group looks forward to watching our seed money grow to help support CDOM.  Scarves are for sale in the narthex.
